I am a 44 year old Sports Science lecturer with 25 years lecturing experience and have expertise in the areas of Anatomy and physiology, Exercise Physiology, Nutrition and Sports Therapy/ Rehabilitation.
I have a background in many sporting disciplines including a variety of watersports. Two years ago I took up the sport of Stand Up paddleboarding following diagnosis of severe arthritis in both hips, due to hip impingement. A year ago I had a full hip replacement but after a very quick and successful rehabilitation I was able to return to paddleboard training.
I train 4/5 times a week, and this involves a mixture of long distance endurance training, Sprints, Interval training, and technical training. The training varies from flat water to open ocean and wave riding.
I have successfully qualified for the SUP (stand up paddleboarding) World Championships representing Wales in Denmark in September, competing in SUP Distance Racing Event.
